ZANU PF First secretary and President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has described the late veteran, diplomat and Politburo member, Ambassador Simon Khaya-Moyo as a stalwart of the liberation struggle.
He succumbed to cancer after a long battle.
ZANU PF has declared the late dedicated cadre a National Hero. In his condolence message, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the passing on of Cde Simon Khaya Moyo came as a shock both to the Revolutionary Party and the nation at large.
“The tragic demise of Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo after a long battle with cancer came as a profound shock to the nation ,to our Party and to me personally,” said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa said the late Ambassador was a staunch cadre during the liberation struggle and a long-time loyal personal aide to the late former Vice President and Father Zimbabwe,Dr Joshua Nkomo.
“On behalf of the Party ZANU PF , Government our entire nation and indeed on my own behalf ,I wish to express my deepest ,heartfelt condolences to the Moyo family and, in particular, Mama Moyo and the children on their saddest loss,” said President Mnangagwa.
In the same vein, ZANU PF Second Secretary and Vice President, General (RTD) Dr Constantino Guvheya Chiwenga said the late Cde Simon Khaya Moyo was a veteran politician, the Party’s spokesperson as well as a politburo member who was very humble and dedicated cadre of the armed struggle.
Vice President and Second Secretary Colonel (RTD) Mohadi expressed great sorrow over the untimely death of Cde S.K Moy citing that the Party has been robbed of a gallant son of the revolution whose loss is difficult to express.
“As ZANU PF family we have once again been robbed of a gallant son of the revolution. It is never easy to find words to capture the feelings of expressing the loss of a comrade…” said Vice President Mohadi.
