Agric sector centre pivot of Zim economy says President Mnangagwa

President Mnangagwa has said the country’s agriculture sector is poised to reaffirm its status as the mainstay and centre pivot of the economy.

Giving his keynote address at the launch of the Agricultural Finance Corporation, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said under the Second Republic results achieved in the agriculture sector are due to bold, decisive and focused planning coupled with timely implementation.

President Mnangagwa also said the establishment of the Agricultural Finance Corporation provides appropriate short to long term financial products and packages to all categories of farmers.

“The establishment of the Agricultural Finance Corporation will therefore expand the provision of agriculture and rural financial services across the entire agriculture value chain from communal, old resettlement A1, A2 and large scale commercial farmers

This will help insulate, propel and sustain our agricultural revolution Support for agriculture value chain development, agro-processing, irrigation and infrastructure development, mechanisation and capacity building of farmers is of equal importance,” said President Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa also urged farmers to embark on viable projects across the agriculture value chain.

“Meanwhile I urge farmers who will benefit from various agricultural finance Corporation financing facilities to embark on viable projects across the agriculture value chain. Growing exports and agro-industrialisation and the penetration of global value chain must remain the main focus,” said President Mnangagwa.
