THE Revolutionary Party has welcomed the establishment of an Elders Advisory Committee which will be instrumental in upholding the ethos and legacy of the Party’s ideology.

The Elders Advisory Committee will also play a pivotal role in advising the Party on political matters.

Addressing the media soon after the 349th session of the Politburo, ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo confirmed the establishment of an Elders Advisory Committee which will be chaired by Cde Sydney Sekeramayi.

Some of the members of the council include Secretary for Production and labour Cde Josiah Hungwe and Deputy Secretary for Women Affairs Cde Angeline Masuku.

The move is a completion to the address by the First Secretary and President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa during a Central Committee address in December 2019. He underscored that under the Second Republic there will be the establishment of a league of veterans and Council of Elders in the Party’s politburo structure which will maintain discipline, unity and shun divisive elements who want to put the name of the party into disrepute.

Ambassador Moyo also said Social media must be utilised without abusing the platforms and moreso the media fraternity must adhere to the code of ethics when reporting stories.

The Zanu PF government is currently rolling out the vaccination process this week with frontline workers being first priority followed by vulnerable groups.
