Zimbabwean President E.D Mnangagwa has commended the outgoing African Union Chairman, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for working well during his tenure of office.

He was speaking during the 34th Ordinary Session of the African Union meeting held virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions.

He also conveyed messages of condolences to his fellow Excellencies for the loss of life due to the pandemic.

“Allow me to convey sincere condolences to all of you, Your Excellencies for the sad losses you have endured in your respective countries due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.

“I further commend the outgoing Chair of the Union, His Excellency Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa and the President of the Republic of South Africa for his exemplary and sterling work in leading our Continental body.

He commended the outgoing leader’s innovative approach in mitigating the impact of the pandemic that has wreaked havoc worldwide.
